Tom Hollander in Dylan Thomas: A Poet in New York

Friday 31st October 2014

We were thrilled last weekend to be able to watch TOM HOLLANDER in the role of Dylan Thomas in the BBC Two production – Dylan Thomas: A Poet In New York.

This beautifully crafted biographical drama about Dylan Thomas was first shown in May and was repeated last  Saturday just two days short of when the poet would have turned 100.  The production was written by Andrew Davies and is essentially a love letter from two famous Welshmen to their country’s greatest literary hero.

Tom is amazing as Dylan Thomas.  He has inhabited this role totally – looking, walking and sounding like the poet.  This fine tribute takes us to his trip to New York in 1953, arriving as an alcoholic with flashbacks recreating Thomas’s early life in the welsh village of Laugharne.

Watch this short interview to see what Tom has to say and if you did not get the chance to see this programme then please watch on BBC Two i-player.
